Hommage à Gustav Klimt

  • Gustav Klimt
  • Design

Gustav Klimt (1862 - 1918) was an important Austrian painter and co-founder of the Viennese Jugendstil (Wiener Secession). Already during his studies at the Vienna School of Applied Arts, his talent was recognized. When Klimt was commissioned with various art and ceiling painting works at the Vienna Burgtheater, at the University of Vienna and at the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the painter gained international recognition and fame as an artist. Together with other progressive artists, Klimt founded the Vienna Secession in 1897. In honour of the great composer Beethoven, Klimt created the “Beethoven Frieze” for the secession building five years later.
Klimt finally achieved his world fame by participating in the IX. Venice Art Biennale in 1910, which was a great success.
His most significant works are the world-famous "Kiss" and the wall frieze in the Brussels Palais Stoclet, which illustrate his love for detail as well as ornamentation.

“Inspired by portrait Adele Bloch-Bauer”

The FREYWILLE artist team was inspired by Klimt's paintings and his unmistakable style, by his muses and especially by the way the artist portrayed them. This inspiration was realized in the design "Inspired by portrait Adele Bloch-Bauer" with the, for Klimt characteristic, decorative elements and playful forms.
The precious fire enamel of this design is now combined in the most luxurious FREYWILLE jewellery line, with settings in 18kt gold and exquisite diamonds, which guarantee the highest quality and everlasting joy to the exclusive pieces.
